Absolutely ball-breaking weather for the first night of Designer Series runways at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.

Not interested in getting blown over outside in order to score higher quality outfit shots; it’s bad enough I have to venture out into the elements at all. Hopefully this enormous chunky knit will keep me warm while everyone else is busy being too cool for school.

Grey is my new favourite sartorial tone. I have enough now to create entire outfits without any other colour.

When Sportsgirl offered me a style challenge I accepted it immediately without seeing the garment in question. I suppose it wouldn’t really be a challenge if they’d sent me something I’d actually buy for myself without thinking… so when I unwrapped their brightly coloured parcel to find floral dress without a spot of black on it – I panicked.

Apart from the obvious style clash, the real problem with the dress is that it’s sheer and incredibly lightweight so I didn’t want to stifle it under  typical wintry  layers. It’s available at Sportsgirl right now and if you’re thinking of buying it don’t hesitate because it is lovely, but tuck it away in your wardrobe for the next few months and pull it out again around December. It’s delicate fabrication will make an ideal wardrobe staple during summer.

Who knows, despite it’s unlikely place in my wardrobe you may just see it making more appearances in the appropriate weather.

Is this cheating? This outfit is from a few weeks ago, I forgot I even took the photos because they were on my other memory card.

I pretty much haven’t taken my Darcie’s off since I got them. They’re the most extraordinarily comfortable boots I’ve ever owned with a heel. I love how the heel makes me feel like my outfit is a little more polished even though they style is really the antitheses of “polished”. I think I’d like to get another pair in a different colour soon.

Wet weather style in the city shopping the mid-season sales. I walked away with a jacket, a cool t-shirt with a leather harness and a very unhappy bank balance. I really love how the pleating in the turban echoes the pleating in the scarf. This is probably one of my new favourite outfits, I plan on wearing it a lot this winter.

It’s the world’s worst kept secret that I’m an accessories fiend. Although I don’t typically pile them on all at once (I’m all about the minimalism of a few well-chosen pieces), I take great pleasure in my ever-growing collection of adornments. Right now I’m using a black leather bag by Pink Corporation from a few seasons ago. The grain leather was over-dyed using an aniline process which has given it a super matte finish. The edges have been left raw which gives it a really soft worn-in feel like a favourite old t-shirt. I love the slight biker-feel the stud detailing gives it, too.

I was running late so I threw on my favourite fail-safe outfit. It’s always fun to play dress-ups with new things and take pictures, but I’m a real person and this is what I really wear. I was blisteringly poor the day I bought this amazing space print t-shirt but I wear it more often than anything else I own.
