The Versatility of Mr.Stifler

I joked about being one of those bloggers today who posts seven almost identical pictures of her outfit… but the truth is, my gorgeous new wool Stifler jacket by complex geometries from PRIVÉ can be worn so many ways that my intentions are from an illustrative perspective rather than pure vanity.

I am absolutely outrageously happy with it – it was the most impulsive piece I ordered from the PRIVÉ sale (and also the most expensive) but is also easily my favourite. Between my Daytona leather jacket and the versatile Mr.Stifler I think I’ve got winter almost sorted.

Last night at around 1:45am my inbox pinged and I was alerted to the fact that member’s only online boutique PRIVÉ were having a flash-sale in 15 minutes on one of my favourite labels, complex geometries. Needless to say I whipped out my debit card like a lightening bolt and by 2:10am I’d placed this fairly sizeable order.

I’m trying very hard these days not to be so impulsive when I shop but I’d also like to think there are occasionally extraneous circumstances that allow one to bend their own rules. This is one of those circumstances. The new leather jacket I had my eye on will just have to wait.

PRIVÉ is a member’s only online boutique but you can join now by following this referral link. It’s run by the same people behind the stunningly edited online boutique SSENSE so the flash-sales are usually pretty awesome. Shipping isn’t cheap at around $50US to Australia but it is express so if you’re getting a bargain it’s a little easier to justify.

Have You Met Miss Kirsten?

Alexander Wang Kirsten Satchel

In a moment of astute clarity about three weeks ago I made this beautiful handbag that I had been uncharacteristically lusting after since March my own.

No regrets, despite the extraordinary price tag.

Black Clouds and Silver Linings

After picking up these shoes yesterday afternoon I desperately wanted to wear them right away; luckily I’m heading out later to meet my beautiful friend Lana from FriggenAwesome for a long overdue coffee/catch up. Lana is ALWAYS stylish and presentable so I felt obliged to pull out something a little more glam than my normal day-to-day studiowear. It’s been a long time since I’ve worn a skirt and tights… but Melbourne is cooling down rapidly with short bursts of warm sun for only a few hours in the middle of each day, so it had to be. I still wanted to keep it casual though so I threw on my most comfy long sleeve top to bring it down a notch.

I stupidly kept my leather skirt folded on my bookshelf for a couple of weeks and now there are some unattractive creases in the front. I plan on hanging it from now on; but is there anything I can do to get the creases out of leather?

Another thing I picked up at the shops yesterday was the new VS Sassoon Magic Wave iron. Although I have naturally curly hair, the curls are messy, unruly, fuzzy sausage ringlets that curl from the root. My hair is also very fine, so when I blow-dry it straight I feel like it goes limp very quickly. I love relaxed waves but couldn’t get the look I wanted with my normal curling iron, so I was pretty keen to try out the wave iron. I’m quite pleased with the results but I can see I need much more practice.

I have a seriously AMAZING new jewellery label launching on Alegorie in the next fortnight… super-dramatic black and gold pieces; stay tuned for more on that soon! In the mean-time you can save a further 40% on all sale items at Alegorie — no code required, the discount is automatically calculated at the checkout. The offer is only valid til the end of April so get cracking, stuff is selling out fast.

Wittner Ceasar Wooden Platform Pumps

After seeing these heels in taupe on Lady Melbourne my mind instantly reconciled these wooden platform pumps as the cross between the All Saints Chelsea Anat ankle boots I missed out on and the All Saints Pither platform sandals I can’t afford.

Realistically the only common element between all three pairs of shoes is the black leather and dark wood; but at $99 (for a limited time only) with free shipping within Australia there was no way I was going to let these curved beauties slip from my grasp. I feel these pumps will be on high rotation this winter!
