I always need interesting tops. Tops that maintain my attention but without print or necessarily colour. It must be harder than it seems, because I’m forever cursing that I don’t have enough of them in my closet – luckily lines like Rick Owens Lilies do them so right. The most delicate jersey you’ve ever touched, artfully arranged in a series of drapes and ruches; yet still unassuming, subtle and sleek. I wish I could afford them all… thank goodness for sites like The Outnet who occasionally offer pieces up at prices that more comfortably suit my bank balance. You have to be quick, though – they’re always popping in and selling out in no time.

After seeing images of these subtle paper-bag style leather clutches floating around on Tumblr I was delighted to discover the product was real and could be purchased directly from the designer, ANVE (thanks Tash!). It was sold out when I found it, so I harassed the lovely team at ANVE until they added more inventory to their store.

The small Saco De Papel is made by hand from a single piece of ultra-fine lamb leather. It’s completely delicate to a fault so I feel a little precarious using it, but one does not own beautiful things so that they may sit and gather dust on a shelf (unless that’s their purpose I suppose). J’adore!

The weather is heating up and I’m constantly left feeling that I don’t have any style-appropriate summer heels. These geometric sandals fit the bill perfectly, and would still look excellent with tights in winter.

Here’s to hoping the sturdy wooden heel will make the 10cm rise a little more easy to manage.

I can find a million pairs of boots to satisfy my winter weather needs, but summer footwear tends to allude me. I’d been on the hunt for some new flat sandals since last summer and had almost given up hope when I came across this knotted pair in Mimco a few weeks back. I wasn’t immediately taken with them but something compelled me to try them on anyway. Once fitted to my feet they seemed to transform and I was instantly smitten. They seem to transcend dress codes being perfectly suitable for both casual or dressy occasions, and are wonderfully comfortable.

A reader recently suggested I introduce more grey into my wardrobe which I thought was an excellent idea, so I took myself down to American Apparel and picked up another of my favourite fisherman knit sweaters in this perfect shade.

It’s the perfect summer layering piece for the minimalist aesthetic, and now it’s on it’s way to my wardrobe.

I spent the weekend in Adelaide relaxing with my favourite babes. On Saturday morning we popped into the newly launched General Pants store in Rundle Mall where I picked up these black leather Converse All Stars. I don’t wear casual shoes like this all that often – when I do, they are always Converse. The all-black rubber and leather gives this classic casual shoe a bit of a dark edge. I’m planning on styling them with a sheer white t-shirt and cuffed black jeans during spring.

I’ve never been a fan of shirts buttoned up to the collar; I admire the look on others but I have a small head and neck and find them aesthetically stifling on me. When I found this gorgeous draped sleeveless shirt on member’s only sale site PRIVÉ my heart leapt a little into my mouth. It ticked all my boxes — it was a top (that wasn’t another jersey t-shirt), it was draped, black, unusual… so I decided to look past my reservations about the high collar and have a go at dressing outside my comfort zone. I reasoned that if I couldn’t make the collar work, I could always unbutton it a little.

Unfortunately the weight of the draping (which all comes to a join on the left shoulder) requires the collar buttoned to the top or else the shirt collapses on the one side. I’m still unsure how I feel about the look — it doesn’t seem so offensive in these pictures but I still feel the discomfort when I look at my reflection.
