Holiday Hair

I bet you never thought you’d see me in this much colour!

Right now I’ve just landed in Kuala Lumpur for the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blogging Awards, so I hope you enjoy this set of easy-to-replicate Holiday Hair tutorials I shot a few days ago with my close friend, hair and makeup artist Holly-Rose Butler. This is not a sponsored post, but all the products used throughout these three looks were kindly supplied by Kevin Murphy.

GHST RDR

Getting correspondence from people you admire is always a little disarming as well as exciting. I thought I’d dreamt waking up to an e-mail from artist and fashion writer Zoetica Ebb at 7am one RAFW morning. Since I didn’t have any shows til later that day I fell back asleep and it took til the evening for me to realise the e-mail was real.

After spending five years in sketchbook purgatory, Zoetica’s designs have finally been brought to life with the help of future fashion pioneers Plastik Wrap. They helped flesh out the concepts and select materials for her first foray into full-fledged fashion design – the mini collection GHST RDR. Zoetica kindly sent me this amazing draped skirt which was custom made to my measurements. Inspired by the Victorian era, Anime and the dark punk aesthetic, GHST RDR evokes classic tailoring and flourishes such as pleats, draping; vivified with modern materials and adjustable straps for a fit that’s devastatingly flattering.

The dense fabrication of the GHST RDR skirt is perfect for the weather we’re experiencing in Melbourne right now, and the clever adjustable draping hides a multitude of sins. Pretty sure I’m going to be wearing it obsessively this winter.

The most incredible thing is that for a custom made garment, the skirt is only $149CAD (which is about $145AUD). You can choose from Black/Grey or Black/Black and it’s available to order or layby now from PlastikWrapArmy.com.

Peaked

The team at Viparo wanted to know how I’d style their newest product – an amazing leather peaked shoulder blazer – for day and for night. You saw a glimpse of it during RAFW and a sneaky snapshot before; this jacket has completely transformed my wardrobe with it’s slick silhouette and industrial washed finish. I’ve always felt too corporate in traditional blazers but the fabrication and texture give this blazer a completely different attitude.

This is my daytime look. Obviously the blazer takes it to the next level but I think boots help stabilize the casual nature of the ensemble. I feel comfortable and relaxed; but just a little powerful too. Thank you so much to Viparo for facilitating the challenge! Stay tuned for my night look.

Whispers and Anarchy

Mimco’s 2011 Season One collection Whispers and Anarchy is detailed as a curious blend of retro-romance and future-chic. As part of their new campaign the team generously sent me this fantastic Hustler Chain Necklace to style in my own interpretation.

Taking cues from the moody black and polished silver finishes from the necklace itself, my look channels a retro-celestial muse in a strange new world.

Made To Share

Influenced by mid 90′s grunge silhouettes and playing on over sized proportions with a concerted focus on fabrications, the new Bonds Made 2 Share range aims to reinterpret classic styles while elevating everyday pieces into must-haves. Made 2 Share was inspired by the new wave of his and her style clothing infiltrating the market – utilising relaxed fits and styling, the Bonds unisex range is a pod of 5 ready to wear pieces; The Tank, The Crew Tee, The U Tee, The Short and The Striders.

Nuffnang knows I love a good style challenge, so they gave me a call to see if I wanted to try out select pieces from the new Made 2 Share range. It didn’t sound like much of a challenge until they said I really would have to share the clothes.

It wasn’t too difficult to get MechanicalShdws in on the challenge; and luckily we have very similar casual aesthetics so I was able to play on that when I was working out the challenge specifics. I decided to revolve the challenge around three key looks all influenced by 90′s style.

White The Crew Tee, Blue The Striders
The clean-cut jeans and a blazer look was perfect for this challenge. Relaxed but stylish enough for Friday night drinks with friends out somewhere in Windsor or Richmond.

.

Black The Crew Tee, Distressed Black The Short
We love live music and going to gigs, this look is perfect for a summer festival. Get that confused look off your face – we’re seeing Iron Maiden, not some wimpy hipster band.

.

Heather Gray The Crew Tee, Blue The Striders
Our favourite day of the week is Sunday because we usually get to spend it together. I love how easy this look would be to throw on before heading out to St.Kilda to grab a coffee and wander lazily along the Esplanade.

.

Thanks to Bonds and Nuffnang, I’m excited to announce that I’ve got two amazing giveaways planned as part of the Made 2 Share campaign which will be coming up in the following weeks on Sea Of Ghosts. In the mean time, you can check out the Made 2 Share range at David Jones, Myer, Big W and independent retailers throughout Australia.
