Out and About at LMFF – Thursday

Thursday evening started off hideously but you can’t stay sad for long when surrounded by the magical waterfront at the Docklands.

Although judging by the unimpressed look on my face, I clearly tried staying sad for as long as possible. I don’t know why I have such a hard time smiling in photos, please no heckling! I’m trying as hard as I can to get all the runway reviews up, I appreciate your patience.

Out and About at LMFF – Tuesday

As it was the hottest ticket in town, I’d been unsuccessful in securing a media pass to Runway 2 on Tuesday night. Luckily about 10 minutes before the parade started I ran into the lovely Ben Pollitt from Friedrich Gray who very kindly gifted me ticket.  Thank you, Ben! At the time I thought that was the most epic thing that was going to happen to me that night but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

After the show Lady Melbourne, Fashion Hayley and I retreated to the Festival Bar where I finally ran into the stunning and talented Selena from Dear Selena, and her two lovely friends Richard and Peter. I also briefly met Emily from Little Black Book but she was unable to stay back with us at the bar.

Myself, Richard, Lady Melbourne, Peter, Selena.

The Woolmark Young Designer Awards took place directly after Runway 2 and as everyone slowly dissipated from the event Hayley and I ran into designer Dion Lee who had just been announced as the winner of the award. We stopped to congratulate him and he very kindly posed for a photograph with me.

Congratulations, Dion! A well deserved win.

At this point everything got pretty chaotic and Hayley and I somehow managed to abscond with a slew of Australian fashion royalty including Gary Bigeni and Gail Sorronda to the Vogue after party, where we enjoyed the company of even more designers such as Romance Was Born, Kym Ellery,  Lui Hon, Limedrop and Akira Isawaga. Australian Vogue editor-in-cheif Kirstie Clements was also there, but even if we had have managed to penetrate the circle surrounding her I think we’d have been too dumbfounded to know what to say.

It was probably the most surreal evening of my life and one I’m sure not to forget!

Let Forever Be

Another inspirational process post, this time for the exceptionally brilliant video for Let Forever Be by Tthe Chemical Brothers, featuring Noel Gallagher. It was directed by Michel Gondry using ground-breaking video and film effects.

Surrender, The Chemical Brothers’ third studio album, had a significant place in my teen years, and hearing Let Forever Be never fails to bring back those memories.

Your Space

The New Romantic seduced it’s way into the pages of Grazia this week. Here I am being akward next to the lovely Selena of Dear Selena.

Thanks, Grazia!

Just Like You Imagined

I find it very inspiring to see my favourite artists’ process. This is one of my all-time favourite Nine Inch Nails songs. The first clip is the band rehersing the track. The second is the studio recording.

Heart wrenchingly beautiful.

Sportsgirl Summer

The online editors at Sportsgirl sent me this sweet “we heart your blog” and asked me a few questions about summer.

What are you wearing right now?
A white mesh dress and black combat boots.

What tracks are on your essential summer playlist?
I’ve got the new Alice In Chains album, Black Gives Way To Blue on repeat in my car at the moment. Also Rival Schools’ only album United By Fate is one of my all time summer favourites.

What is your fave piece of clothing from the Sportsgirl summer collections?
The leather biker jacket. If you’ve ever experienced a Melbourne summer you’d know a leather biker is totally appropriate.

Describe your perfect summer day…
Getting up really early and going down to the markets to trawl for treasures. Then heading over to a nearby cafe for breakfast, before coming home and having a naughty afternoon nap with the sun streaming in through the window. So good!

I also received a Beautiful Blogger award from the lovely Steph from Eternal Masquerade, and the Best Blog award from Zeus. Thank you!
I tag everyone who’d like to participate.
