Happy New Year

Happy new year to all my friends, old and new.
That’s you.

Your visits, comments and e-mails are adored and appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my little blog, I sincerely enjoy reading yours, although I may not comment every time I visit; please know our mutual exchange of thoughts, ideas and inspirations is absolutely important to me. I hope we can continue to inspire each other in the new year and beyond.

Here’s to another great year with you.

Instagram

I’m making an effort to be more active on Instragram, trying to post at least one image a day… here are some of the snapshots I’ve been sharing. If you have an account, you can follow me as @aliciahannahnaomi. I’ve also added a “Latest Instagram” to my sidebar for those without an account who’d still like to keep up with my posts.

Thank you for the inspiration
Thank you for the smiles
All the unconditional love
That carried me for miles

These were the best of times
I’ll miss these days
Your spirit lit my life each day

My heart is bleeding but
I’ll be okay
Your spirit guides my life each day

Sanctuary

It’s been a while since I shared images of my space. Since then I’ve replaced most of my furniture to create an all-white minimalist sanctuary.

I’ve been trying to read more books this year, so my bibliophile sister has been lending to me from her extensive collection. Recently she sent over Sara Douglass’ Darkglass Mountain trilogy, but stopped me from reading just as I’d gotten a decent way into the first book. Remembering that the trilogy (Douglass’ last) combines characters and circumstances from four of her (unrelated) earlier works; I was informed that I had to read the preceding eight books first in order to more aptly appreciate the depth and ingenuity of Darkglass Mountain. Game on.

Relay For Life

Most of us know someone who has had cancer, some of us have seen those friends and loved ones lose their struggles with this debilitating disease. Recently in the news we have seen visionary Steve Jobs, brave fight but ultimate loss against his struggle with pancreatic cancer. Closer to home, my own father lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in November 2009.

My family is again participating in The Cancer Council’s Relay For Life – a unique event where teams of friends, families or colleagues challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or run overnight.

Please visit our team’s Relay For Life donation page and help our team, The Jackals, raise money for Relay For Life and cancer research. Every donation, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.
