La Grande Noirceur

What’s in the water in Canada? Right now I have over $800 worth of Montreal-based fashion label Ovate‘s new collection, La Grande Noirceur, on my wishlist. All coats and jackets, of course; despite our hemisphere’s move into spring you can never have too many jackets in Melbourne. This is just a taste of La Grande Noirceur; jump over to www.ovate.ca to see the rest. Just don’t buy any of the jackets. They’re mine.

THOUGHTS ( 9 )

Didn’t know there was anything in Canadian water, if anything I thought all those creative water molecules were in Australia. Or maybe that is my biased, dark-loving opinion.

Either way, Ovate has amazing designs. I’ve fallen in lust!

I totally agree. I saw her new collection and I died in happiness. And the materials are awesome for the price point. Silks, washed leathers…oh my. I will be purchasing from her very very soon. :)

There is another Montreal designer I admire, Elizabeth Hudson of Ursa Minor. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ursaminorstudio She makes phenomenal geometric pouches (all sold out right now but you can seek them in the sold section). I just orderd a pair of calfskin leather leggings with organic French jersey in the back for a phenomenal price of $140 CAD with shipping for my Birthday. Expecting them in the mail soon. Can’t wait. Want to pair it with the silk cardigan I bought from you and my jewelry. :)

@ Sonia – Thank you! Yes I have an Ursa Minor clutch — the geometry is what hooked me!! x

I love canada. i grew up on the other side of the border near montreal in VT. so cool to see such great work coming from that area. also they are both using that incredible black french terry fleece!! so jealous, I wish i could find a source for it :)

I’ve been hardcore lurking their site over the past couple of days. NEED SO MUCH STUFF. Thank goodness I now live in England (and not Canada) because this stuff will be so much cheaper for me.

Oh I keep seeing this line, it’s so beautiful!

I’ve been eying her designs quite a bit lately, but haven’t made the plunge into a purchase. I’m a little too indecisive.

It would be difficult not buying other jewelery. Surely designers can use and enjoy the work of their peers!? But I see your point, it’s not great for business! It hasn’t been easy growing my hair this long. I used to have a deathhawk and a bunch of other crazy/unfortunate hairstyles. Sometimes I get an urge to cut it shorter, but then I try to remind myself that I’ve wanted long hair for years! Once you get through the awkward middle length it’s okay :)

“Maybe she wouldn’t need that jacket if she wasn’t wearing a mesh shirt…”
