LMFF Style Notes – Penthouse Mouse Launch

I’m pretty excited to be heading off to the launch of Penthouse Mouse 12 tonight. Giving emerging and independent multi-disciplinary designers an innovative platform for promotion during the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, Penthouse Mouse combines exhibition and retail space in order to provide visitors with an engaging experience like no other.

As I manifested in my New Year’s Resolutionwhen it comes to my wardrobe, I don’t have a “I mix high street with high fashion” philosophy; it encourages over-indulgence. I simply shop wherever I can find what I need. This agenda is about being discerning, not discriminating. Every part of my outfit for the event (except for my rings) has come from a cheap and cheerful chain store – but they all speak succinctly of my style and that’s why they were purchased. I loved the chiffon top so much I actually bought it in two colours.

I’m trying out centre-parting my hair; slicking my fringe down flat while I decide if I’m going to grow it out. I’ve worn my hair with some kind of fringe since about 2003, so going for the middle part terrifies me a little. I’ve got a widows peak, an uneven hairline and a cowlick which the fringe did a superb job hiding… but sometimes it’s just so high maintenance that I can’t stand it. What do you think?

Black Chiffon Asymmetrical Top: K-Mart
Black Faux-Leather Pants: Dotti
Black Suede Heels: Zara
Chrome Cuffs: ASOS
Rings: Alicia Hannah Naomi

This outfit is beautiful. I love the way that top falls, the style is super cute – I can’t believe it came from Kmart! I think the center part actually looks really good on you.

Cant believe the top is from Kmart too!
I am going to go have a look. I thought it was CG or something!
Looks lovely.
I can’t believe how different you look without a fringe.
I didn’t recognise you on instagram!
I think it looks nice though.
Fringe is so HM, I could never make regular trips to the HD for trims.
Bleughhhhh

You look beautiful – this outfit is just amazing. I can’t believe that the top/pants are from K-Mart/Dotti either, they don’t look cheap at all. Your makeup is flawless as well x

I cant believe those pants are from dotti! I cannot get to a store fast enough!

I can’t understand why so many women are afraid of center parts- you look positively beautiful with your hair pulled back like that!

I have always struggled with maintaining fringe when I decide to “try it one more time,” so kudos to you for maintaining it continuously for so long! I think your hair looks lovely with this style. Your outfit looks like it is relatively comfortable, easy, and functional (plus of course, it looks fantastic). Perfect!

I love the centre part! I think it suits you. It’s very elegant & sophisticated — totally different but I think you should give it a shot! Changing your hair is so much fun, & if you decide you wanna go back to a fringe, you can! xoxox

I love this outfit, I’ve noticed my style is evolving into something quite similar and I’m much the same when it comes to shopping, often I like to save the pictures of the things I like then come back to look at them in a month or two to see if I still like them enough and they fit in with my style before I buy them xoxo

i almost always prefer a fringe but this actually becomes you. i’d stick with it for a while.

You look amazing, i’m always flawed by how effortlessly chic you look. I love your hair like that, it set me back a minute, I was looking at the picture and thinking “somethings different” but couldn’t put my finger on what exactly. The fringe!

Natalie shared this comment on Mar 03 12 at 2:50 PM

You definitely look different without your usual fringe…but still gorgeous! I’m surprised the top was from KMart. Love what you’ve put together, especially those Zara heels.

Norlin shared this comment on Mar 03 12 at 5:48 PM

Another ‘like’ for the centre part! Looks great on your face and yes it is far less maintenance than a fringe. Could not believe when I looked to see which chain store your top was from – K-mart for the win!

I’m stunned about the top like a lot of other people, K-MART?! I work there haha. I never notice the clothes, I just assume that none of them will be that great. I’m impressed.

Magnet shared this comment on Mar 04 12 at 7:34 PM

centre-parting looks great on you!!! go for it, you can always cut it back if you change your mind :)

Girl, you rock that K-mart shirt! I’m so happy to hear you say that high fashion isn’t your priority, but rather your STYLE is. Amazing philosophy, and I definitely agree.

Also, I think the middle part suites you! Go for it :)

Wowza, you look gorgeous, the centre part/no fringe really suits you! Loving the outfit too, what a bargain with the top. Wouldn’t have guessed that was from Kmart in a million years!
