Studio Days

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Say hello to one of my many studio-friendly ensembles in all it’s glory!

I feel the need to disclaim this outfit somehow. It is not an excuse – it is not self-deprecatory and it is not a flip off. It is not how I dress every day. It is an honest representation of what I wear some of the time. I am not Michelle Jank (although I wish I were) – I do not come to work in a ball gown (thanks Smaggle!). I am not a glamour girl. I do not swan about the city streets looking fabulous, wearing inappropriate sky high heels every day (or worse – not wearing inappropriate sky high heels but pretending I do to look FASHIONABLE ON A BLOG).

I do make a conscientious effort to care about my style when it’s practical to do so. But when I require function over form I am not above wearing sloppy cardigans and ugg boots to work. Admittedly, with the slowly warming weather the necessity of the ugg boots is decreasing – I wouldn’t wear them on a day I didn’t feel that I had to.

I don’t blog to be someone of my own invention. I am who I am – uggs and all.

Incidentally, Whooga sent me these ugg boots to review two years ago and they’re still being used and abused today. They’d like to offer Sea Of Ghosts readers 10% off their guilty-pleasure footwear by using the code 763SEAOF before the 11th of November.

I love that you are 100% yourself!! Thats the only way to be, and good for you not dressing up just for your blog! I’m convinced 98% of the time thats what most bloggers are doing.

I have been slopping around the house for the past few days in much the same (except replace jeans with pyjama pants! haha) studying for exams. The crappy weather we’ve been having lately down in Melbourne isn’t exactly inspiring is it?

Replace the uggies with combats and you’ve got my day to day go to. I kind of enjoy flying right under the radar on a lot of occasions.

You look so comfortable right now that I’m envious from my chair. Very inspiring Alicia, I have that “I work from home so hardly anyone ever sees me” look going on probably 5 out of 7 days a week and my uniform is similar to yours, Uggs included. xx

Good on you girl. You still look rad. And I wear similar ensembles to work every now and then. Props to honesty.

You look great, the cardigan is freaking sweet.

You actually still look awesome! My ‘comfy’ outfits are kind of horrifying. Nicks old tracksuit pants with holes in the butt chewed by his old puppy, my grandmas old navy blue cardigan, homer simpson slippers….. Dare I go on?!

Sigh, you’re more honest about your real self via blog world than I am. I have changed into heels in my outfit photos before only to take them straight off. It’s just too tempting to pretend to be somebody of your own invention, you know? I dress pretty sloppy and don’t do my makeup a LOT. But you pull it off much better than I.
You could do so much worse for a casual work outfit. You’re still in grey and black, staying true to your relaxed silhouette and fabrics.
I really agree with your comment “I do make a conscientious effort to care about my style when it’s practical to do so. But when I require function over form I am not above wearing sloppy cardigans and ugg boots to work.” Amen.

That cardigan looks super comfy! Actually the whole outfit does, but I really do like the cardi!

I have those boots to they’re so comfy aren’t they especially in this cold weather! Although I must admit I’m trying not to wear Uggs so much I swear my feet are getting too used to comfort and my Docs work just as well :)

and for anyone interested I did write a review on them Whooga ages ago (one of my first real blog posts) http://cateaclysmic.blogspot.com/2009/12/big-ugg-debate-whooga-vs-ugg-whooga.html

nothing wrong with this picture imo, personally i like uggs (was considering getting a short pair in black recently) and especially for your studio-work time, sounds perfect to me :)

I think you look totally cute here. I hate uggs and this pic actually made me want a pair.

Seriously love your honesty, sometimes I wonder if a lot of bloggers ever leave their house or if they spend their entire lives orchestrating totally awesome outfits just to post online only to repeat the same process again. Either way I have also on days and off days, sometimes I spend ages getting ready and putting together a special look, other days I embrace an old plaid shirt and some flat boots and just slob around the place. Depends on my mood.

i love it all! you look great! i often find myself working in oversized black cardigans and black skinny jeans myself, although i’m usually in combat boots or white cowboy boots . . . .
