The Cave Dwellers

Loving Kirrily Johnston‘s AW10 collection, Cave Dwellers. The collection’s moody androgyny is harmoniously composed, with each piece complimenting the others perfectly. From withdrawn minimalism to heavy avante garde layering, this versatile collection has wide appeal despite it’s strong aesthetic convictions.

My major covets are the insanely beautiful pony-hair boots that Johnston is re-releasing this season in black, and the ridiculous shaggy cardigan/jacket – which I can confirm feels like a nomadic dream when worn.
Be still my beating heart.

I wish it was winter already…

Love the layering of these pieces, I want to touch them the textures look so inviting.

I’m really conflicted about this collection.
I like to look at it, but I’m not sure how wearable it would be for me.
I feel like ombre was annoying enough when it came back in 2 years ago and i dont want to see it again.
I dunno.
I’m usually a massive fan of anything KJ but I’m not sure if i will buy anything this season.
Maybe ill change my mind when i see it in real life…
i really want to love it !
The pony hair boots look cool.
Cant wait to see better pics of them!

@ cottonsocks – You know, I HATED ombre when it came in few years back, but I love this. I can’t explain it, but I think it’s the murky colour scheme that does it for me. Like someone’s emerged from a swamp! xo

WOW.

I never really payed any attention to Ms. Johnston. I was always like “Meh. She designs cosies, doesn’t she?”

Now I see that I was very, very wrong, and in the worst possible way. I’ve been missing out all this time :”( I feel like I should send her a hand-written appology.

And she does menswear too!

*dies*

The Subterranean Dipped Knit Gloves *will* be mine

@ Grant – The gloves are soooo good. So are the scarves. Ugh! ox

I adore this – I love the different layers and textures.
I quite like the ombre because it is subtle.
Also love the arm warmers!!! I think I could rock those this winter. As I am tall sleeves are normally too short for me anyway- this could be the perfect solution!!

i’m really loving that first dress with the sheer + solid black and the sheer cape/wings/drapes on the side… definitely would wear that ALL THE TIME.

I’ve never been a fan of KJ, but this collection looks amazing. That shaggy cardigan is all kinds of awesome.

Oh I haven’t seen this yet. She’s definitely gone a lot darker this season… but still doing her whole drapey/nomad/traveller aesthetic. Love most of it though!

…similar thoughts to above, not sure if I’m crazy about ombre but in the right context (ie. this ‘swampy’ collection as you say) it can look quite good. Prefering the ombre treatment in the first knits over the dress piece… otherwise very cool, love the shag and the shoes…
