Sportsgirl AW10 Preview

I was very honoured to be invited by Sportsgirl to attend their AW10 Preview runway show on Monday night in Melbourne’s Docklands.

Ebony and Hayley from Fashion Hayley.

Phoebe from Lady Melbourne and Vanessa from Hallowed Be Thy Name.

I wore a tank from K-Mart, Bandage Skirt from Kookai, Flats from Mollini and Necklaces from Alegorie.

There was a quirky and colourful dance/acrobatic performance to entertain the audience at various periods throughout the show.

It was my first runway as a media representative and a good practise for LMFF which I hope to attend as a media rep in March. Needless to say I had a bit of a struggle trying to tame my camera amidst the colourful and fast-paced conditions, and as a result mostly stuck to photographing the amazing shoes (which suited me fine).

One thing I will say for Sportsgirl is they’re probably the most “on trend” high street retailer in Australia, bringing through runway inspired styles faster than any other chain store that target’s the same demographic. As an accessophile, the highlight of the collection for me was definitely the shoes.

Thanks Sportsgirl.

Yes the shoes! Yes! I want those tan lace up wedges sooooooo much! Though I am not sure if they are the best style for my ‘shapely’ legs haha

I really like your outfit in this. Simple, but stylish, and it works on you beautifully.

Not usually such a huge fan of Sportsgirl (their stock tends to be rather overpriced for pieces that are so trend-based and fall to pieces fairly quickly), but I’m really liking those shoes. Can’t wait for it to be winter again so I can get some boots like them and wear some nice socks with them.

Also, I just realised who you remind me of: the twins, Emily and Katie, from Skins. I’m weird.

Ooh exciting, so jealous! Wow, I love every one of those shoes, the socks/ wedges combo and over-the-knee boots especially. Can’t wait til they’re in store.

Love your outfit too :)

Great post, loved the catwalk shots. I also think that Forever New has their finger on the pulse when it comes to new fashion and trendsetting for a retail store.

Love the studded shoes!

This looks like fun! I remember doing one of these shows in Sydney a couple years back, so colourful, great music, great atmosphere. I really love sportsgirl, wish they would expand a bit more, so they could be Australias answer to Topshop.
Thanks for your comment on my blog, the support and encouragement I receive is so overwhelming and it drives me to improve – its been unbelievably rewarding!
If you’re ever in Sydney I’d love to shoot a few posts with you – if you’re keen

I really like the look of some of those shoes. The black ankle boots and the wedges in particular. Do you know when they hit the shops?
Like your outfit too, btw. Simple and cool, very fresh!

Those tanks from Kmart are awesome. I got myself a couple on Monday…at $15 you can barely go wrong.

Totally coveting one of the feather capes from Sportsgirl atm.

great photos, i think you did just fine covering the event and came up with some very good shots! i’m always a bit iffy on sportsgirl, some of their pieces are okay but the rest just look so (stupid word, hate to use it but) awfully mainstream. still, interesting show, and i had no idea they did such cool shoes. i’m gonna get me some of those grey wedges quick smart.
you all look stunning, and i especially love hayley’s outfit, so cute! i hope you had fun.
